Standardized Licensee Case Presentations A Primer of Guidelines and Criteria for Use by State Agencies Licensing Dental Professionals to Assess Continued Competency

This publication, accepted by the General Assembly of the American Association of Dental Boards in October 1999, outlines a standardized case presentation format that could be utilized by licensees whose competency is being assessed by this methodology. It also discusses calibration and other implementation issues. Definitive criteria for "acceptable", "marginal", and "unacceptable" outcomes for specific therapeutic decisions are presented for each discipline in dentistry and dental hygiene. Initial content validation of this modality demonstrated that the discipline areas chosen for evaluation covered the domain of dentistry and are perceived to be reasonable by practitioners.
